June marks the 130th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty arriving in New York harbor and Immigrant Heritage Month, making this a prime time to visit Ellis Island. Coincidentally, Airbnb is giving away an Ellis Island excursion as part of its “Night At…” campaign, which offers free stays at some of its more unusual destinations. For this getaway, one lucky essay winner (and a guest) will get the opportunity to explore the historic site and their immigrant roots.

The trip will include a themed dinner with the host, Oscar-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden, and other VIP guests in the Ellis Island Museum’s Grand Hall, where immigrants were originally processed. There will also be an after-hours tour of the museum and island, and a genealogist will guide the winner and his or her guest through their Ellis Island origins.

The evening will wrap up with a cruise around Manhattan and surrounding islands on the Arabella, a 157-foot luxury yacht. Guest will spend the night on the boat, and the next morning they’ll have brunch on the yacht alongside the Statue of Liberty before heading home.

To enter, submit a 550-word piece explaining a bit about yourself or your family’s history and why you’d like to make America’s Gateway your home for the night. Full details are available at airbnb.com/night-at/ellis-island. The trip will take place June 29–30.

Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. ET on June 20; airbnb.com/night-at/ellis-island
